Our client a large Firm of Accountants are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to work within the team responsible for outsourced bookkeeping and management accounting functions for their clients, preparing figures to trial balance level and helping prepare management accounts and analysis.

    

Main duties

  • Accounts/Bookkeeping

  • Posting sales/purchase invoices and reconciling sales and purchase ledgers

  • Posting receipts and payments and reconciling bank accounts

  • Preparing and posting month end journals including accruals, prepayments, deferred income and expenditure and depreciation

  • Input stock movements and reconciling with trial balance figures

  • Posting month end salary information

  • Close down month end reports and year end balances

  • Preparation and submission of clients monthly/quarterly VAT returns under MTD

  • Deal with any queries which may arise from clients as primary contact for own portfolio of clients

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel

  • QuickBooks

  • Xero

  • Sage 50

  • AutoEntry

  • CCH Central

  • SAP

 

Aptitudes / skills required

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent.

  • Keen to continue or pursue accounting qualification

  • Practical experience within a similar role or working in industry

  • Ability to assist clients with reporting and queries (previous client practice experience desirable)

  • Experience and good working knowledge of Sage, QuickBooks, Xero software and Microsoft packages

  • Experience of preparing and submitting VAT returns

  • Attention to detail

  • Organised with the ability to meet strict deadlines

  • Logical and systematic approach

  • Numerate with strong communication skills

  • Able to work on own initiative and/or part of a team
