Our client an Engineering company is looking to recruit a Payroll Assistant to join their team in assisting with the payroll.

 

 

Main Purpose of the Job:

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Group Payroll Manager in delivering a strong, reliable payroll service to RSBG Infrastructure group companies. Further companies may also use this service at a future point in time so sleek processes and delivery are key to building this support function. Due to acquisitions and business growth, the Group Payroll Assistant will take a number of the daily payroll duties away from the Group Payroll Manager allowing him to focus on more complex issues within the Reward & Benefits employee offering. Evolution from manual to automated payroll processes will be a key measurement of success within this function of the business.

 

The role will assist the Group Payroll Manager with the following monthly tasks as and when required:

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Stand in for the provision of monthly RTI data to HMRC via FPS and EPS.

Assist with collation of data to External auditors (yearly, HMRC and Executive management team as required.

Assist with collation of annual P11d statements detailing BIK`s provided to employees by the relevant Employer during the tax year.

Liaising with colleagues in HR and Finance departments when required.

Responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager with the monthly payroll processes for RSBG Group companies - around 750 employees at present by:    

Managing the data sources, changes & information for input to Sage 50 Payroll platform

Posting the monthly employee payslips online plus manual collation and distribution of paper payslips to a further 90 employees every month

Support with reconciling the payroll and pension entries for the Group companies and paying over the pension contributions within agreed timescales.

Meeting HMRC payment deadlines (P32 form related) - cover required for the Payroll Manager

Paying employees on time and accurately via Direct BACS using online banking portal

Setting up new starters and leavers for the Group companies and dealing with their related HMRC forms

Resolving payroll queries in a timely manner

Dealing with Court attachment of earnings orders, DEO`s, etc as required

Ensuring that pay, pension and benefits are being paid in compliance with HMRC statutory requirements

Deduction of childcare voucher costs from employees and paying over to childcare providers

Dealing with flexible buy/sell leave deductions or payments

Calculating PHI and Group Life Insurance costs and assisting Company Secretary with annual renewal of the schemes via broker

Administration of RAC membership for employees wishing to join company policy

Reporting short term hire car insurance data to Insurance brokers

Updating Motor Insurance Database when company vehicles are changed.

Cover for all payroll tasks as required when Manager on leave.

Assist Payroll Manager to respond to queries from External Auditors and HMRC as required

Liaise with accountants for Qvest Media and 4 Way (Group companies) re payroll related technical support as and when required

Ensure continuing GDPR Compliance as a Data Processor

 

 

Experience and Skills:

 

Essential

Must have at least 3-5 years payroll and pension experience utilising Sage 50 Payroll and/or Unit 4 Business World On/Agresso ERP

Strong attention to detail

Planning and organisational skills

Good team working skills

Great interpersonal and communication skills

Self-discipline

An aptitude for IT

Knowledge of software packages like Excel, Sage and BACS

Strong time management skills. Forward thinking of risks & issues

Confident and approachable

Able to support during period of change

Logical thinking, methodical in approach

 

Preferred:

CIPP Technician or equivalent

Experience in a similar role in a fast paced, payroll environment
